Roads Less Traveled Italy’s Sustainable Travel
Commitment Provides Options
for All Budgets

Sustainable Travel Commitment through Supporting the Local Economy

We all benefit when we spend our travel money on businesses owned by people living where we travel. Opportunities for genuine connection shine through – allowing you to experience the Italy that arouses all of your senses. Sustainable travel in Italy means that community members are not only financially reimbursed in a manner that sustains them, but they also gain the opportunity to make connections with travelers, potentially building relationships that will last into the future.

Roads Less Traveled Italy’s mission is to give you a chance to explore the off the beaten path, less touristed places in Italy.

I relish helping you to experience all of the remarkable establishments that are owned by locals.

I know that the best day tours are led by locals, so I connect you with guides who live in the region you’re traveling in.

I provide you with opportunities to support community-based tourism projects.

Sustainable Travel Commitment through Respecting Nature and the Environment

At this time in history, preserving our natural resources and protecting our planet are of utmost importance.  While international travel requires considerable use of resources, Roads Less Traveled Italy exists on the belief that the benefits of travel have the potential to outweigh the concerns, so long as we travel responsibly, supporting local economies and paying for carbon offsets.  Sustainable travel in Italy respects and supports the rich natural environment that makes the country so special.

Roads Less Traveled Italy recommends establishments that support environmental sustainability through their practices.

I furnish you with detailed information about how to use public transportation in the locations you’ll be visiting.

I suggest activities that are focused on preserving and regenerating natural habitats.

I provide you with up to date resources to help you mitigate the carbon footprint of your trip.

Sustainable Travel Commitment through Valuing Cultural Heritage

A voyage to Italy means a voyage into an unparalleled set of regions, each with their own traditions and breathtaking cultural masterpieces. Sustainable travel in Italy means that whether you are learning the enchanting Italian language, savoring unique regional recipes, or attending an artistic spectacle, you will gain understanding about the culture of the regions you are visiting, and leave with memories that pay homage to the importance of traditional heritage in Italy.

Giving Back

Roads Less Traveled Italy believes that tourism should benefit destinations as well as the traveler. To this end, I donate 15% of my fees to Planeterra, a non-profit organization that supports community tourism enterprises. The bottom line is, I’m not doing this to make a lot of money; I’m doing this to help people enjoy a new way of traveling to one of the most beloved countries in the world.
